Dualita Architecture was founded by J Armando Hernandez Varela as a step up from the traditional architecture firm to be able to provide a more personalized service to our customers through design excellence and a caring perspective. We believe that the design process is a close interaction between the client and the architect. We want to offer our clients a better service experience than a big corporation where the principal is not fully involved in the design and overall project process. We work closely with our clients, and we care about their projects. We listen first and propose the best solution, always expressing and following our core values and following our motto: DO BETTER We strive that each of our projects is better in every sense of the word, better price, better quality, better service. We want to bring better architecture to the Edmonton market; we want each of our buildings to make a statement and not only fulfill requirements, we believe architecture is an art form, and as such, we value our practice. Our company was founded in 2019 by Jorge Armando Hernandez. The size of our organization allows us to commit fully to the projects in which we are involved. We don’t have costly overhead, which gives us a competitive advantage over bigger firms and gives us great flexibility to respond to our client’s needs. We have contract staff that we can add to the team should a bigger job comes, but we can remain small if the workload so requires

With over 20 years as an architectural designer and project manager, I have experience in diverse projects, from commercial to residential and mixed-use developments. I’m drawn to architecture for its blend of creativity and problem-solving—transforming ideas into spaces where people live, work, and thrive.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, a Wood Construction Certificate from NAIT, and a Residential Interior Design Certificate from the University of Alberta. I’m committed to sustainable practices, continuously updating my skills in the latest design software.
Outside of work, I draw inspiration from painting, sculpture, biking, canoeing, baseball, and traveling, all of which enrich my creative perspective.

My architectural approach is rooted in both intradisciplinary and multidisciplinary perspectives, shaped by extensive hands-on project experience. With 13 years of professional practice in Mexico and Argentina, I strive to redefine architectural activity by integrating not only programmatic considerations but also the entire process from conception to the tangible realization of each project. This holistic perspective enables me to explore the interplay between objectives, methodologies, and design techniques, ensuring that every phase of the design process is aligned with the specific goals and requirements of the project. Through this approach, I aim to foster a profound understanding and effective integration of the various dimensions of architecture, ultimately enriching the final outcome and delivering innovative, coherent solutions. I earned my degree in architecture from the University of Guanajuato and completed a master's in architectural project design at the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina, from 2018 to 2020.

I hold a Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) and a Diploma in Interior Design (DID), providing me with a solid foundation in both architectural theory and practical design principles.
I have further expanded my expertise through specialized certifications in Commercial Design Interiors, Home Staging, and Property Styling, equipping me with the skills to create functional and aesthetically pleasing spaces for a variety of settings.
My favorite hobbies are outside of my professional pursuits, I am passionate about traveling, which allows me to explore diverse cultures and architectural styles that inspire my work. I enjoy engaging in DIY projects, where I can express my creativity and craftsmanship. Hiking and outdoor activities are integral to my life, as they connect me with nature and promote well-being. Additionally, I find joy in gardening, cultivating my own green spaces, and expressing my artistic side through various art and craft projects.

My expertise lies in crafting innovative and functional spaces that seamlessly integrate aesthetic appeal with practicality. I take pride in my ability to understand client visions and translate them into inspiring environments that enhance the quality of life. Through my work, I strive to promote sustainability and create designs that are both timeless and responsive to contemporary needs.
Collaboration is at the heart of my design philosophy. I enjoy working with multidisciplinary teams, where we can combine our strengths to bring ambitious projects to fruition. I am dedicated to continuous learning and growth, always seeking new ways to push the boundaries of design.
I love to be outside of my professional endeavors, I am an avid traveler. Exploring diverse cultures and architectural styles enriches my perspective and informs my design philosophy.
